Power Training Workshop Video PDF Print E-mail

Well, the footage is in (although I lost the footage of the first event) and here is what occurred at our workshop this past weekend.  It was a ton of fun, and though my editing makes it look like a lot less volume than it actually was, there was a lot of intense training going on!  Very proud of these guys, especially all the newcomers.  Props goes out to Brad, who pushed himself hard enough to vomit on the spot!  Normally, we don't condone that kind of excessiveness, because you don't want to train to that amount of failure, but it's a fine line between pushing yourself super hard and overtraining.  Brad wasn't overtraining.  He just drank way too much protein water.  ;)

Also, props to Raquel for finishing Event 3!  Before the event, she asked me if she could sit it out because the wind (or the cold?) was making her feel sick.  I told her to at least do the first few parts, and she went on to finishing the whole circuit without taking a break!  And lastly, props go out to Justin for completing the third event in the fastest time, Tim for being comfortable enough to hang with the young kids, and our last two participants for traveling such a distance to train!  Super proud of this entire group.

Welcome, West Virginia Traceurs! PDF Print E-mail

PKVA has recently added a WVPK subforum under its Local Community forums in an effort to help the WV traceurs along, get them talking with more experienced traceurs, and allow them a home.  Efforts will be made for the next little while to expand our website to facilitate both of the states of Virginia.

To our Western sister-state, welcome to the family!  Train hard and diligently, and we hope to meet up with you soon.

Feb 15th - Power Training Workshop - Alexandria, VA PDF Print E-mail

On Sunday, February 15th, at 11AM, Parkour Virginia will be holding a Power Training Workshop in Alexandria.  The workshop will be free of charge.  The goal of the day is to train explosiveness and plyometric ability, condition muscular endurance, and end off with a brief seminar/roundtable on training for power, in addition to elements of strength and endurance training.  The workshop is a brief lesson in supplemental training to Parkour and appropriate ways of progressing.  Hosted by Animus, details of strength training programming will be covered so that each attendee will have a better idea of how to structure and organise their training programs.  The workshop will conclude at around 2PM.

The workshop will take place outdoors at the Kingstowne Parcourse.   There is a large parking lot in the Kingstowne Centre across the street.  It is walkable from there.

Rock climbing is an excellent supplement to your parkour training. It helps build strength all around your body, but especially grip and upper body. It also challenges you to think creatively and push forward to find new paths. If you're up near Alexandria, VA you should check out SportRock for indoor rock climbing as the weather gets colder :)
